Watching the Jacanas was a nice way to spend the time for the Yellow Waters boat to depart. These little birds have very long toes so they are not only able to walk waterlilies, they even can walk on submerged plants. See on the picture: the toes are under water, but only the toes.
By the way: ever thought of what birds have where one would look for a knee? And why isn't it a knee? Very simple: a knee is the other way round. The one in the middle of a birds leg - believe it or not - is their heel. The knee is way up so one normally can't see it at all.

So they walked on high heels around the floating boat. Every now and then they picked something in the water - mostly insects and slugs I suppose.
