Great Egret


Great Egret
The largest of all the 4-5 white egrets in Australia. Compared with at least the Cattle Egret and the Intermediate Egret it appears to have a longer neck. Anyway the point to look for is the head: The bill of the Great Egret seems to continue behind the eye. One cannot see that clearly on this small image, but one can on the slide.
Like so many other birds, this one's giving the remaining fish in Yellow Waters a hard time - they're all sqeezed together in a bit of water with all teeth and bills around...
