When we saw this Glossy Ibis amongst the Magpie Geese in Yellow Waters, the boat guide changed his calm voice to a higher tune. This was pretty much what the birdwatchers were after. Alright, we appreciate the encounter, but my field guide does not call it very rare in this part of Australia. Anyway: It looks much better than any other ibis I've seen before, even though one cannot really see it on the picture. From really close it may have been breathtaking with all these different shades in glossy plumage.
