Swamp Harrier

This Swamp Harrier is obviously photographed in captivity. That was when the tree with their home nest in Tasmania was logged and the two chicks would have been doomed without a helping hand. So for some weeks the've been raised by a human hand and received names: Slater and Gordon, inspired by the well-known lawyers. When they had learned to fly, they were released and Gordon took off forever while Slater kept returning for that nice convenient food source.

My book sais in Tasmania Swamp Harriers are only migrants. But well, families founded in foreign countries are not that scarce. Still, the parents would do better finding a country that abstains from logging during the nesting season.
