Common Heath

Common Heath

A very nice little shrub that is the ensign flower of Victoria - the Common Heath (Epacris impressa). I found it frequently in Victoria, but unlike the European heath types, always only few plants, never whole areas coveres with heath. But with a color shiny like this - it might hurt the eye. In fact the flower color wasn't always totally the same - sometimes, it was more pinkish. But always stunning. These pics were done in January, apparently off-season, but you see: I stumbled across it anyway.
