Post- and telegraph station in Alice Springs

The wire that built a townwaiting for the official tour to begin This wire founded a town - the town of Alice Springs. As the single wire couldn't travel very far without a repeater station, one of these stations was required in the middle of the country. Everything else followed behind.

Funny enough Alice, the lady who the place was named after, never even saw it. But who cares: the spring isn't a spring, either. It's only a waterhole.
