Ellery creek

Ellery creek billabong The waterhole is a part of the Finke river, which is believed to be one of the eldest rivers on earth, 15 million years old. Most of the time it's dry, like any other river in the Outback. But there are several waterholes (billabongs) where the water is deep and cold, so they never dry out.
Even though the bus has air condition, such places are very welcome for their opportunity to take a cool swim. We never missed a chance.
It was when swimming through the gorge, when we watched a monitor lizard climbing the rocks, but falling into the water over and over again...
